Description

 
Place: Nineteenth-century castle surrounded by lush vegetation of its park, the site of the three natural islands of Lake Trasimeno in Umbria, next to a fishing village renowned for its tranquility.

History:

  • In 1328 the Franciscan friars are to build a church and a convent on the island.
  • In 1887 an Italian marquis buy the convent of the Franciscans and turns it into a private residence for 40 years became one of the meeting points of the Italian aristocracy. The transformation allowed the castle to get a look completely different from the pre-existing convent. The church was restored in the bell tower, the choir and the altar. The building took so one "eclectic" style, reflecting the tastes of the time, enriched with large rooms for collections of antiquities, chinoiserie, Etruscan collections, coins, weapons and armor of the various components of the dynasty.
  • In 1903 Guglielmi created a small fleet for links with the mainland and daughter Elena opened a school of embroidery in the castle of the "Irish Lace".
  • In 1944 it was home to some political internees and the Jews.

 

Castle: site on the southern end of island Maggiore, surrounded by lush vegetation of its park.
Comprised of several buildings of different heights (from 1 to 3 floors) that are built around 2 cloisters part of the fourteenth century Franciscan monastery and a nineteenth-century courtyard, following the sloping of the hill toward the lake. The embattled crowning of the building, of the 6 perimeter towers and a bell tower that dominates the entire complex, combining various elements into a single architectural complex.
From the terraces of coverage you open a lovely view as far as the eye around the entire perimeter of the lake, with the belt of coastal countries and the hills that surround it.

 

Project: Recently it has been prepared for the restoration project to transform the castle 5 star hotel with 70 suites and a wellness center.

 

 

Land: 4,5-hectare park that extends down to the shores of the lake and includes 2 jetties and 2 docks to restore, as well as a tennis court in the grass.

The steepness of the land on which it is placed has led to the creation of great works of terracing, which have been created over the formal Italianate gardens of the nineteenth century, which is still recognizable.
Originally, the landscaping were particularly accurate, with long avenues, which covered almost completely the island, with a path coasting the walls with steps leading down to the lake and the large garden from the complicated shapes of topiary.
The entrance is through a gate between turrets guarding and cypress avenue leading to the main square.
The green areas are covered with olive groves, bamboo forest, groves of pines and holm oaks by numerous hiking trails.
