Place: The location is very scenic, but offset from the town of a few kilometers.

 

Altitude: 400 mt. above sea level.

Period of construction: Built in the 11th century as a noble residence of the Counts of Tyrol. In 1885, this high-medieval castle has been transformed into a hotel.

 

Chronicle: The castle was the seat of one of the biggest scams ever made in the world: the falsification of millions of banknotes, which took place in the darkest period of the twentieth century during the Holocaust of the Jews.

 

Condition: The state of preservation is good and given that until a few years ago was destined to hotel presents almost everywhere the signs of wear. In practice, the property is to be restored and all the systems are to be redone according to the future intended use.

  • kitchens and cold rooms are outdated;
  • the oil fired or wood boiler;
  • the production of hot water is controlled in part by solar panels;
  • the roof was redone 20 years ago;
  • wooden external parts (balconies-handrail) are corroded by the weather as well as some exterior doors.

 

Castle: From the courtyard we arrive in the charming hall of the castle, dominated by granite staircase of the Val di Nova. The salon and the lounge of the Emperor shine like a time that just does not seem to be passed since the end of the nineteenth century, this hotel was frequented by high society of Habsburg. In former times the favorite place of the guests during the cold months, was the veranda with its large windows full of light. Recognized and declared of important historical and artistic value, in accordance with Law 06.01.1939, No. 1089.
