Description

 

Place: Monastery mariano cloistered nun's convent, located in the historical center of the medieval village, just 25 km from the Ligurian Sea.

 

Altitude: 600 mt. above sea level.

 

Surface covered: 400 smq. approx.

 

Period of construction: 13th century.

 

History: It is a convent dedicated to Mary, whose symbol appears in the bottom-relief in wooden gates and inside. There is depiction of the Virgin in the fresco above the old entrance. Before it was expropriated by Napoleon Bonaparte for his war purposes it was used by cloistered nuns.

 

Conditions: The structure is almost perfect, requires a minimum expenditure for final personalization, in order to make a usable Residence.It was in fact inhabited until just 20 years ago. Has just been made the revision and arrangement of the roof, it just shaved the plaster of the Chapter Hall and fix the open zone to show the history of the plaster up to the original, restoring the plumbing, electrical and telephone, already present, putting them under.  For the rest it is all in very good condition.

 

Characteristics:

  • Eighteenth-century vaulted ceilings;
  • Stucchi;
  • Chapter salon or representation with much older coffered ceiling;
  • Centuries-old terracotta floor 20x20;
  • Fireplaces in every room;
  • Doorposts, doors, original of 1600-1700 Taxes, in excellent condition and great value;
  • Below the delicate pictorial surface layer, in the vaulted ceilings as in the walls, it turns out the presence of the old pastel chromatic notes, olive, green and gray, and below, the historic stucco layers, up to the centuries-old original, with decorations hints.
  • The original entrance door, a centuries old, in solid wood, with decorations in high relief with Marian symbols ("M"), also evoked inside, in other ecclesial buildingsi.
  • Large rooms on the first floor, old dormitory of the nuns;
  • Cellars with vaulted ceilings.

 

Dependance: situated in front of the Entrance, currently used as garages Garage (ancient structure full of surprises historical, contemporary with the monastery).
